Ms.PENG Jingping serves as the executive director of Chengdu Huizhi Social Working Centre. Ms. Peng worked with West Women Association for eight years, and participated and led countless programs centred around the prevention of domestic violence, the enabling of village women in participating village elections, and the care for homeless children as a tool of crime prevention. Asa result, women’s participation rates in local elections and the rate for women to be elected both doubled in two consecutive elections. As a generation of women rises to local leadership positions, traditional macho view toward women in these villages are moved.
