Ms. Zhang Xuan (2015)

Zhang Xuan, project leader of ChangchunXinyu Volunteer Association, director of Changchun Volunteer Association forthe Disabled, takes charge of the “Light of Life” series projects to help thedisabled. As a disabled herself, Zhang Xuan has always hoped to help more people like her to live with confidence and self-esteem and achieve their own value, and she decided to devote herself into public service after graduation.In the past seven years she has participated in the management and execution of many disabled assistance programs in Changchun Xinyu Volunteer Association. As a woman with mild disability, Zhang Xuan not only works on the front line, but also encourages people like her to set life goals. She chooses this career not only because of her own experiences, but also because she has further understanding of missions in charity work. The development of her career is not only a realization of her own value, but also good news to many disabled people in future.

Changchun Xinyu Volunteer Association works for helping the disabled, here come people who are eager to achieveself-reliance but fails because of their disabilities. As a non-profit organization, to explore the employment-possibilities for maimed people, Xinyu set up “light of Life Studio” which runs by a group of disabled people. Theirprograms include the disabled assistance publications, Light of Life; “Light of Life” internet training classes; “Light of Life” clubs for disabled people, etc. Their aim is to help more maimed people obtain job opportunities and realize a sustainable development.
