ChinaNext Foundation(CNF) is a UK-based charity (Charity No. 1149502) that supports the development of young NGO leaders in China. Our official mission is:
“To promote, for the public benefit, the efficiency and effectiveness of charities and not-for-profit organizations in China with the aim of relieving poverty, financial hardship, or any other socio-economic disadvantages;
In furtherance of this, the charity will foster the development of modern citizenship awareness among the next generation of Chinese people via training and education, and by empowering and enabling young people to participate in community services and volunteer work.”
As an organization, China Next Foundation is a company limited by guarantee (Company Number 07832735). We are regulated by the Charity Commission of England and Wales.
Our Operations in China
CNF operates in China, where appropriate, through our partnership with Shanghai ChinaNext NGO Development Centre (上海明日公益事业发展中心), a locally-registered NGO regulated by Shanghai Civil Affairs Bureau(上海市民政局). ChinaNext Foundation and Chinanext Shanghais' operations were under the leadership of the same board between 2014-2020, when their accounts were consolidated. We adopted the higher governance standards where they are different.
In 2021, a decision was made to separate the operations of the two charities more formally. As the two institutions are now led by different boards and staff differently, they are no longer institutions under the same control. But we still work closely together.
